On February 6th, 2023 two strong earthquakes of 7.8 & 7.5 on Richter scale strike southern Turkey causing widespread damage in ten provinces of Turkey and the northern Syria and at least 54,000 deaths.
An 18-member CMT mission was immediately organized and went to the Hatay area to assist with the search and rescue. The mission started on 10/2/2023 and ended on 17/2/2023 with the return of our 18 volunteers safe and sound.
The operation took place in the Hatay region under the instructions of the Turkish state agency AFAD.
Incalculable destruction.
Unspeakable human pain.
In an area completely destroyed, the difficulties were many.
Buildings completely leveled.
The anguish of the people was expressed with the immense gratitude they expressed to us, for being there for them!
