The administration of the organization is based in Thessaloniki and is housed at 13 Kondylaki Street. From there its activities are coordinated and information is passed to members and citizens. CMT also has two readiness bases one in Athens, for Attica, and one in Theves for Boeotia.

Its purpose is the voluntary offer of assistance, in the prevention, treatment and recovery from mass disasters such as earthquakes, extensive floods, natural disasters, forest fires, etc., in the search and rescue of people from aviation, mountaineering, maritime and other accidents, as well as the provision and/or management of humanitarian aid inside and outside the Greek borders. CMT, also, contributes to the provision of supplies in difficult and isolated areas, wherever and whenever needed.

CMT consists of rescue experts and well trained volunteers who are always ready to go to any disaster-affected area, within or outside our borders, at an hour’s notice.

The members of CMT are constantly training by professionals in the respective areas as well as by government agencies in providing first aid, finding and freeing people from ruins, dealing with all kinds of disasters, forest firefighting, telecommunications, mountain rescue, water rescue, etc.
The core of the team consists of veteran and very experienced certified rescuers aided by newer volunteer rescuers, with the desire and will to contribute to the cause and the work of CMT, which are added to the team after finishing the CMT Rescue School, that lasts eight weeks, and takes place every autumn in Thessaloniki, Athens, and Thebes.
